There’s an app for that
I’m heading to Glastonbury next week – something that was only confirmed last week and means that I’ll be escaping our offices in Gloucester for a few days. Not only that, but I will be going there alone. Despite lacking the camaraderie that a group of friends bring to these sorts of occasions, I am overcome with excitement. Upon hearing the news, one of the first things I did was download their official app. The mobile app allows me to view a list and schedule of all the acts playing over the five day event, customise my own schedule, view a map of the site, see the latest news on their website and Twitter feed, and view important information about the event brought into one handy place in my pocket.
The rise of mobile apps
Why do I tell you this? Not to gloat, but it demonstrated to me a sign of the times and the rise of mobile apps. The phrase ‘There’s an app for that’ is becoming more appropriate each day as we become increasingly consumed by smartphones and tablets – a point proven by the launch of Amazon’s new smartphone this week. There are currently more than 1.2 million apps available for download for Android and iOS users – a figure that is increasing rapidly.
How can mobile apps help you, or your business?
It’s all about easy access. There are millions of people who own a smartphone which have the capabilities of running apps; they’ll be browsing, shopping, reading the news, or browsing through retro filters to add to their photos. Apps provide the flexibility of accessing information or services everywhere – unless you live in an obscure area of the country, or underground.
Having your own iPhone or Android app is another means of increasing your reach. Once developed, it will be uploaded to a global database where it can be accessed using a few relevant keywords in the search bar.
If you think that a mobile or tablet app could provide greater access to your services, and enhance customer experience, you should consider it.
Not sure if you need an app or not?
Ask yourself if there a definite requirement for a standalone app. If you’re not sure, speak to someone in the know. It may be that your website is fully responsive and you don’t need an app. A responsive website means it resizes itself and fits whatever device the site is being viewed on.
We can help you with that!
At Appsolute Creative (do you see what we’ve done there?) in Gloucester, we have witnessed the growth of apps and experienced their capabilities. That’s why they have now become the newest addition to the website and marketing services we offer.
If you have an idea of how you’d like your app to look, we can build to your vision. Here are a few features we can include in the development of your app:
– CMS-driven; once built, you can easily make changes to the content displayed
– GPS integration; if required, users will be able to navigate to certain areas through your app
– Cross-platform development; we can develop for Android, iOS (Apple), Windows, and Blackberry.
– Social media integration; whatever social media networks your business is most active on, we can integrate them into your app
– App analytics; once it’s all built, you’ll want to see the response it’s been getting. We’ll include a separate application for administrators to view your app analytics.
