Diary of a Marketing Apprentice – Part 1

May 2, 2014 | Blog, Diary of a Marketing Apprentice

I’m Jake and I’ve recently started with Absolute Creative as a marketing apprentice. What attracted me to marketing is its ubiquity, and the endless possibilities of conveying your message to attract greater interest.

What I find more desirable about a marketing apprenticeship over a marketing degree is the opportunity to learn in an educational institution, as well as working for an active creative digital agency. It allows me to draw information from a range of experienced individuals and to understand the various components that form a successful marketing campaign – and of course without all the debt associated with university fees.

So I’m currently in my second week at Absolute, and here is what I’ve learnt so far:

Web design maestro Ian has given me a crash-course in Adobe InDesign, meaning I can now prepare templates for online use for the customer.

The Absolute boss and the man behind the marketing operations, Chris, has given some useful insight in to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Google Analytics, and how these play a key role in maintaining a strong online presence.

Coding whizz, Angel, has introduced me to WordPress and the email marketing campaigns.

Obviously a lot of my time here has been spent learning about the business and their CRM systems as well.

Prepare to hear more from me as I’ve now been unleashed to the public and have been given access to all Absolute social media channels.
